My husband and I had what we call a “working date” on The High Roller. I always forget that I don’t like heights until it’s too late.

We’ve been back in Las Vegas for a week and a half now. We rolled into town fully expecting that we would have a house. Little did we know, it turned out to be a scam, so until we find a place, we are staying with my mother….again. Poor woman.

I had started these socks when we were still in Utah after I found out we would for sure be moving back to the desert. I wanted something that would be small and portable and somewhat quick to finish. I only do toe – up and I wanted to see how long they would end up. I used Knit Picks Stroll Hand Painted Sock Yarn in Coffee Shop and the toes, heels and cuffs are in Knit Picks Stroll Sock Yarn in Wonderland Heather. The pattern is Hermoine’s Everyday Socks, which I had never done before, and I used an after-thought heel. These come up just over my knee and I love them. The yarn is so soft. I had them in my yarn train case from Jimmy Bean’s Wool, which my husband packed in a box when I wasn’t looking. As we were putting our stuff in storage, I opened every box looking for it. Obviously, I found it.

After I finished the socks, I started what I call my Corset Top. It is from the book Knits for Teens by Lee Gant. I’m using Cascade Ultra Pima Fine in white and lilac. It’s going to be beautiful once it’s finished, but I put it on hold for the moment because…..

I absolutely HAD to start Wingspan by Kyle Vey. I bought and downloaded it the day it went live, but didn’t order the suggested yarn for it. I had wanted to wait until after we moved, which I now realized was a massive mistake. I went to order it this past Wednesday, but everything was sold out. So, I started following the yarn dyer on Instagram to see if she would update when that particular yarn would be restocked. From what I understand, (and I really hope I am wrong) it never will be. She is dying kits for the next collaboration she is doing. I was surprised to read that since Wingspan JUST came out and it has had a positive response. I had 3 people tag me on Facebook on the pictures of it, saying they want me to make them one. I hope, one day, she will dye more of the yarn for it because I will absolutely order it. Until then….

My 4 year old and I went to Hobby Lobby – my 1st time since December. I was so desperate to start this shawl that I was ready to buy ANYTHING to get it going. Yarn Bee Chloe is a worsted weight yarn and so, so soft. I prefer my shawls to be big, and using a size US 7 and worsted weight yarn, it absolutely will be. So far, it’s looking amazing! The color is French Rose which Savannah picked out because I could not make up my mind between the colors they had. Unfortunately, since it is going to be so big, I’m going to have to wait to block it until we have our house and more room.

Which leaves me in my current dilemma. I want to knit. BUT – I want to start something new. I have a design I was working on in the storage unit. I’m tempted to go and get it out, actually. It’s a beaded lace – weight shawl and it’s going to be GORGEOUS. I think I may actually go and do that….

Happy Mother’s Day!
